Elderly Persons Party---2011
- This year's annual event was held on Saturday 20th March at the Memorrial Hall in Farnham for 120 guests.
- There are many elderly people in Farnham, living in their own homes and not having the opportunity, for a variety of reasons, to socialise. Indeed, for many, our annual party is one of the "gala events" of their year and is our main reason for organising it.
- Throughout the afternoon they are treated to a variety of entertainment. Before and during lunch they were serenaded by a music ensemble from All Hallows School, which was followed by the Academy of Irish Dance. This troupe of dancers, all dressed in beautifully coloured dresses, have become a regular feature of the afternoon and are great favourites of our guests. The afternoon is brought to a close with another favourite, The Community Voice Choir, who deliver a rousing performance, with most of our guests joining in a hearty sing along.
- The lunch that is served is of a very high quality, prepared by the Cordon Bleu trained team from Home from Home caterers, who do a splendid job all round. Amongst all the compliments we receive, both on the day and in Thank You notes afterwards, the lunch most often takes pride of place.
- The Party is organised by a small team of Farnham Lions, but on the day it is a three-Lion whip, for maximum help! Over 80 of our guests are transported to and from the party by a team of Lions, family and friends without whose help the event would certainly not take place.
- Our data base for invitees is always in need of updating and should any reader know of a candidate for our next event on Sunday 25th March 2012 and subsequent events then we would welcome details through the Contact Us page on this website.
