The Otter Wey Trail

Models of Otters have been chosen to celebrate the return of Otters to the River Wey near Farnham. The initiative involves local schools, community groups, artists and businesses all coming together to create a walking trail in and around Farnham. Farnham Lions are working with Farnham Town Council, Farnham in Bloom and the Surrey Wildlife Trust in this community project lead by Blooming Art. The Trail will run during May and June 2018, and will encompass the Farnham Town Walking Festival (20/5/2018 -3/6/2018). There will be a map of the trail, showing the location of each Otter, and a competition for all to identify the names of all the individual Otters and win a superb prize.

All the Otters will be decorated by a cross section of our community including local groups, charities, schools, community organisations and some by professional artists. They will then come together in a final “Romp” at the Farnham Carnival fayre, in Gostrey Meadow (30th June 2018).  Later in the summer the Otters will all find new homes at auction, with all proceeds going to the Mayor of Farnham's chosen charities for 2017-2018, Woodlarks Centre and the Brightwells Gostrey Centre.

In the meantime the otters are keeping themselves under wrap.... How will they all be decorated - Once the artists start to work on their designs all will be revealed!
